
Huskies Set To Face No. 13 Rutgers On Friday Night In New Jersey

SEATTLE - No. 21 Washington looks to add to its three-game winning streak on Friday at No. 13 Rutgers. It's the second straight ranked opponent for the Huskies after a win over then-No. 12 Indiana at Husky Soccer Stadium.

SCOUTING THE SCARLET KNIGHTS
The Huskies face a ranked opponent for the second straight match on Friday as they take on No. 13 Rutgers in Piscataway, N.J. The Scarlet Knights are fourth in the Big Ten standings with a 3-2-1 record in the conference. Rutgers currently has an 8-3-2 record and most recently dropped a 2-0 defeat at Maryland.
SERIES HISTORY
The Huskies own a 3-1-1 record against Rutgers dating back to 1992. Washington earned a 2-0 win over Rutgers last season in the latest matchup between the two teams.
LAST MEETING (10/25/2024)
SEATTLE β Washington men's soccer continued its hot streak, recording their second consecutive shutout and third straight win in a 2-0 victory over Rutgers on Friday night.
UW moves to 7-4-5 on the season and even its conference record at 3-3-3. The Huskies close out the regular season home slate with a record of 6-1-2 on Montlake.
Jadon Bowton notched his second consecutive clean sheet and fifth of the season. He added a save to bring his season total to 41.
The Husky offense applied the pressure the entire night, forcing 22 shots with eight coming on goal. The defense held Rutgers to just four shots and only one on goal.
Chris Peretti recorded his first career goal in the 23rd minute, firing a header inside the box to give Washington a 1-0 lead. Richie Aman and Peter Kingston recorded assists.
Following the goal by Peretti, 12 Huskies have contributed goals this season.
After a slow start to the second half, the Huskies forced a corner kick in the final minutes of the contest. Peter Kingston took it from the near side and found Caden Buckley in the box the pass found Egor Akulov who sent in his second goal of the season to double the lead.
DOWN GOES INDIANA
Washington continued its hot streak, earning a third consecutive victory by dismantling No. 12 Indiana 3-0 at Husky Soccer Stadium. It's the Huskies' first ranked win of the season.
The Huskies took the lead just 20 minutes into the match when Richie Aman found Alex Hall on the left side of the box for an emphatic goal. Hall now has three goals on the season and it was the first of two assists on the night for Aman. The breakthrough for the second goal came in the 74th minute when an Alex Hall cross was struck perfectly on the volley by Charlie Kosakoff. Nick O'Brien was instrumental in the buildup, earning an assist on the play. Washington wasn't finished yet, however. The Dawgs found a third goal in the 83rd minute as Richie Aman's corner kick was hammered home off the head of Asher Hestad for his first career goal.
The Huskies were supported by 2,805 cheering fans on Friday night, the 13th-largest crowd UW men's soccer has seen at Husky Soccer Stadium.
HERMANN TROPHY RECOGNITION
Richie Aman was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Midseason Watch List thanks to his impactful play all season long. Aman currently sits second in the nation in total assists with nine and third in assists per game at 0.75.Β
The 2025 midseason watch list was compiled by members of the Hermann Trophy Midseason Watch List Committee. A total of 15 players will be named 2025 Hermann Trophy semifinalists on December 9 at the conclusion of NCAA Division I All-American voting. From that list, head coaches will cast votes, and three players will be named finalists. The 2025 recipient will be announced January 9, 2026, in a ceremony at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in downtown St. Louis, Mo.
B1G TIME PLAYERS
Asher Hestad and Alex Hall were named Big Ten Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week after the big win over then-No. 12 Indiana.
Hestad had the best game of his career so far in Washington's first ranked win of the season. The sophomore defender put the game away by scoring his first goal to put Washington up 3-0. He also played a career-high 90 minutes while making his third ever start for the Huskies.
Alex Hall has cemented himself as an offensive engine in the midfield, tallying at least one point in six of the last seven matches. Hall scored the game winner against Indiana before also setting up Charlie Kosakoff for the second goal of the game. It was Hall's second multi-point game and he now has six assists on the season, the second-best mark on the team.
NATIONAL RECOGNITION
Harrison Bertos was tabbed the Top Drawer Soccer National Player of the Week on October 7 after leading the Huskies to wins against Northwestern and Indiana.
Bertos has been a defensive force for Washington in the last three matches, helping keep Wisconsin, Northwestern, and then-No. 12 Indiana from scoring a goal. Additionally, Bertos bagged the game-winning goal against Northwestern for his second game-winning goal this season.
CLASS OF THE BIG TEN
Four of the top eight players in total points in the Big Ten are Huskies. Richie Aman leads Washington and sits third in the conference with 15 points. Zach Ramsey is right behind with 13 in fourth. Charlie Kosakoff and Alex Hall are each tied for eighth with 10 points.Β
As a team, Washington paces the conference with 29 goals scored and is second in goal differential (18), second in assists (29), third in shots on goal (78), and first in shots on goal percentage (45.9%).
The Huskies currently sit second in the Big Ten table with 12 points, behind Maryland with 14. Washington has played one less conference match than the Terrapins.
INTO THE RANKINGS
The Huskies entered both the United Soccer Coaches and Top Drawer Soccer rankings last week after the ranked win over Indiana. The Dawgs are the No. 21 team according to United Soccer Coaches and No. 20 by Top Drawer Soccer in week 8.
OFFENSIVE OPPORTUNITIES
The Huskies have been applying the pressure in every game this season, recording more shots than their opponents in eight of 12 gamesΒ The Huskies currently rank 16th in the NCAA in corner kicks per game, averaging 6.58 per contest. The Huskies have scored 29 total goals, led by Zach Ramsey and Charlie Kosakoff with five apiece.
The Huskies offense ranks among the best in the country as well. Washington is second in the conference and 10th in the NCAA in scoring offense (2.42), 12th in Total points (87), and 13th in total goals (29).
HALL ON THE SCENE
Hall has become a crucial part of the Huskies' offense of late. He scored the game-winning goal against Indiana before assisting another strike later in the match.Against Northwestern, he provided a crucial assist to the game winner scored by Harrison Bertos. At Wisconsin, he assisted the game-winning goal against Wisconsin. And earlier this season against Gonzaga, Hall bagged his first career brace while chipping in an assist for a career-high five points. He now has 12 points on the season and has at least one point in six of the last seven games.
Hall currently ranks 19th in the NCAA and second in the Big Ten in total assists (6) and 25th in the NCAA and second in the Big Ten in assists per game (.50).
WASHINGTON STATS
The Huskies are one of the best offensive teams in the NCAA, ranking in the top-20 in multiple statistical categories. Washington is 10th in scoring offense (2.42), 12th in total points (87), 13th in total goals (29), 13th in points per game (7.25), 14th in goal differential (18), 16th in total assists (29), 16th in corner kicks per game (6.58), and 19th in assists per game (2.42).
TOP DISTRIBUTORS
Richie Aman and Alex Hall have distinguished themselves as two of the premier passers in the NCAA. Aman is second in the NCAA in total assists (9) while Hall is 19th in the country (6). They sit first and second in the Big Ten rankings as well.
In the per game stats, Aman is third in the country and first in the Big Ten (0.75) while Hall is 25th in the NCAA and second in the conference (0.50).
DAWG DEBUTS
12 Huskies have made their Washington debuts in the first two matches of the season. Levi Bieber, Brecken Bowers, Cameron Cruz, Clarens Dollin, Jaeger Felton, Carter Gay, Osato Enabulele, Sheehan Ganguly, Philip Kleeman, Zack Meier, and Kevin Hernandez, and Chad Sovde all featured during the first four games of the season.
BRICK WALL KEEPERS
The Huskies have employed a goalkeeper committee this season, sharing starts between Levi Bieber and Jadon Bowton.
Bieber has made five starts this season and has led Washington to three shutouts and a 3-1-1 record in those games. Bowton has made seven starts, earning a 4-2-1 record with two shutouts.
Most recently, Bowton earned a 3-0 ranked win over then-No. 12 Indiana. The graduate student made multiple key saves to preserve the clean sheet and earn his second shutout of the season.
Bieber tied a career-high four saves last time out while facing a career-high 19 shots in a 1-0 shutout victory at Northwestern. Earlier this season, in his second career appearance, Levi Bieber recorded his first win and shutout. Bieber has two complete game shutouts and one combined shutout on the year.
PICKED FIFTH IN CONFERENCE
Entering year two in the Big Ten conference, Washington has been picked to place fifth in the 11-team league, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Washington finished 8-6-7 last season, advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Huskies ended the season with a 4-3-3 record in Big Ten play, finishing fourth in the league with 15 points.

HOMEGROWN TALENT
Washington's roster features 19 of 29 players who hail from the state of Washington. Four players claim Seattle as their hometown (Asher Hestad, Joe Dale, Cameron Cruz, and Jaeger Felton), while two each are from Spokane (Kenny Pierpoint and Jadon Bowton), and from Bellevue (Sheehan Ganguly and Chad Sovde).
DEFENSIVE DOMINANCE
Junior defender Harrison Bertos made 20 starts in 2024 and helped UW to top-50 marks in the NCAA in goals against average and shutout percentage.
Bertos was selected in the second round of the MLS SuperDraft, but decided to return to Washington for his junior season in 2025.
CREAM OF THE CROP
In 14 season on Montlake, Jamie Clark has orchestrated the meteoric rise of Washington men's soccer, distinguishing the team as one of the nation's top college soccer programs. Prior to the start of the 2025 season, Clark has led the Huskies to a record of 175-68-40, three Pac-12 titles, and 11 trips to the NCAA Tournament. Of those postseason appearances, Clark's Huskies have made four trips to the NCAA Quarterfinals, including three straight NCAA Quarterfinals appearances from 2019-21.
Clark currently ranks seventh in winning percentage among active head coaches with a .696 percentage in 17 career seasons.
FRESH FACESΒ
The Huskies welcomed six freshmen to the squad this fall. Kenny Pierpoint (GK), Clarens Dollin (MF/F), Carter Gay (D), Kevin Hernandez (MF), Zack Meier (D), and Osato Enabulele (MF) all enter their first season on Montlake. In addition to the first years, the Huskies also welcomed Cameron Cruz (MF), a transfer from Grand Canyon to the squad.
