
Huskies Down Portland On The Road, 83-53

PORTLAND, Ore. – Senior Chantel Osahor accounted for her sixth-straight double-double and junior Natalie Romeo buried seven three-pointers as the University of Washington women's basketball team won its second game in as many days, beating Portland on the road, 83-53.
Osahor put together another all-around performance with 13 points, 17 rebounds, five assists and two steals. Romeo ended the day with 21 points, all from behind the arc.
Senior Kelsey Plum led the team with 26 points to go along with six assists, six rebounds and a pair of steals. The Poway, Calif. native was 12-of-13 from the foul line.
Washington knocked down double-digit three-pointers (13) for the fifth time this season while going 20-of-23 (87.0) from the charity stripe.
The Husky defense stifled the Pilots in the first half, holding the home team to just 15 points and 16.1 percent shooting (5-of-31). After Portland scored the first points of the game, the Huskies went on a 10-0 run to build a lead it would never relinquish, buoyed by a pair of three-pointers by Romeo and Heather Corral to open the scoring for Washington. The Huskies cruised to a 23-8 lead after the first 10 minutes before eventually taking a 22-point lead into halftime.
Washington built upon its lead in the third quarter, highlighted by four three-pointers in the final 1:54. Romeo hit three and freshman Mai-Loni Henson knocked down her second of the game to help Washington take a 28-point advantage into the final quarter.
The Husky lead was insurmountable for the Pilots in the final period, as Washington cruised to its sixth win of the season, beating Portland, 83-53.
Washington outrebounded the Pilots, 48-37. In addition to Osahor's 17 and Plum's six, sophomore Hannah Johnson grabbed nine boards while senior Katie Collier pulled down five.
Next up, the Huskies will travel to Phoenix, Ariz. on Thursday (Dec. 1) to face Grand Canyon University. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m. PT.
