PHOENIX, Ariz. – Senior Chantel Osahor tallied a career-high 25 points and registered her seventh consecutive double-double as the University of Washington women's basketball team rolled to a 101-66 win over Grand Canyon University on Thursday (Dec. 1) in Phoenix, Ariz.
Washington hit the century mark for the fourth time this season and as a team, shot a season-high 60.0% (36-of-60) from the field, including 9-of-20 from behind the arc and 20-of-25 from the charity stripe.
Osahor ended the night with 25 points on 9-of-10 shooting, 14 rebounds and six assists while going 4-of-4 from behind the arc.
Senior Kelsey Plum scored a game-high 28 points to lead four Huskies in double figures. Plum recorded 19 of her 28 in the second half, going 6-of-9 from the floor and 6-of-7 from the foul line. The Poway, Calif. also tallied a team-high eight assists to go along with six rebounds.
Senior Katie Collier added 13 points while sophomore Deja Strother came off the bench to score 11 points and grabbed five rebounds in just 11 minutes of play.
Washington used a balanced attack to take a nine-point lead at the half before using a 17-0 run to outscore the Lopes, 29-9, in the third quarter. The Huskies would lead by at least 29 the rest of the way.
Washington held the Lopes scoreless for a five-minute stretch and only allowed 4-of-17 (23.5%) shooting from the field in the third. Offensively, Osahor jumped out to a quick start, nailing a three less than 10 seconds into the frame. The Huskies would go on to convert three more from behind the arc, including Strother's first career triple to take a 72-43 lead into the final quarter.
