
Washington Heads To Seattle U., Portland This Weekend

SEATTLE -- The No. 15 University of Washington women's basketball team (4-1) begins a three-game road trip this weekend, traveling across town to Seattle U. on Saturday (Nov. 26) before heading south to play at Portland on Sunday (Nov. 27). The games will be streamed on wacsports.com and wccsports.com with radio coverage on gohuskies.leanplayer.com.
The Huskies are leading the nation in several categories including 67 made 3-pointers and 13.4 threes per game. Washington is 67-of-152 from three-point range this season, hitting at a .441 clip. Seniors Kelsey Plum and Chantel Osahor are also leading the NCAA in points per game and rebounds per game, respectively. Plum is averaging 27.8 ppg while Osahor is pulling down 13.4 boards per game.
Washington is coming off a record-setting night against Idaho (Nov. 22). The Huskies hit 19 three-pointers, a new school record while Osahor accounted for the first triple-double in program history, tallying 11 points, 10 assists and 21 rebounds. The two teams also broke an NCAA record with a combined 97 three-point attempts in the game, shattering the old record of 86.
After a 4-1 start to the season, Washington moved up two spots to No. 15 in the latest AP Top 25 poll. Four other Pac-12 teams are also ranked: UCLA at No. 9, Stanford at No. 11, Oregon State at No. 22 and Arizona State at No. 23. In the USA Today Coaches Poll, the Huskies are ranked No. 13.
With its highest ranking since 2003-04, Washington was also selected to finish third in the Pac-12. The Huskies received two first-place votes and garnered 93 points.

SCOUTING THE REDHAWKS AND PILOTS
Seattle U. is under the direction of new head coach Suzy Barcomb, a University of Washington graduate. She spent 12 seasons as the head coach at the University of Puget Sound. The Redhawks have started the season, 1-4, but all four losses have been relatively close, losing to Idaho (68-64), San Francisco (73-59), Boise State (73-68 OT) and Portland State (79-71). SU beat UC Santa Barbara (58-52).
Portland returns a veteran squad, featuring a group of 10 returning letterwinners after losing just one player to graduation last season. The Pilots, also 1-4, have played tough competition to start the season, losing to UC Davis, Nevada, Oregon State and USC. Portland beat Alaska Anchorage (66-57).
