Huskies Clinch Pac-12 Opening Weekend Series

Oregon jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after scoring three runs in the first and one in the second.
Washington's bats came alive, plating five runs in the second to take the lead. The scoring run started with Olivia Johnson reaching on an error and Avery Hobson with a single to put runners at first and second. SilentRain Espinoza came to plate and smashed her first career triple to put Washington on the board. Baylee Klingler and Madison Huskey had back-to-back bases loaded singles to tie the game at four. Washington took the lead on a wild pitch.
Washington added four runs in the third, highlighted by Klingler's three-run home run that landed in Lake Washington outside the left field wall.
The Ducks responded with two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to cut Washington's lead to two. The Huskies were not able to find an additional insurance run in the sixth.
Down to their final out, Oregon had the bases loaded, but Ruby Meylan got the batter to strikeout swinging to secure the 9-7 victory for the Huskies.
Lindsay Lopez picked up her second win in a row to improve to 5-2 on the year. Meylan picked up her second consecutive save.
The Huskies are back in action on Tuesday against UNLV. First pitch from Husky Softball Stadium is set for 1 p.m. and airing on Washington Live Stream.
