SEATTLE – Washington softball hits the road for the final weekend of the regular season with a three-game series at Penn State beginning on Friday.
The Huskies enter the weekend with an overall record of 32-15 and 10-8 in Big Ten action. There has been a change to this weekend's schedule. The Huskies and Nittany Lions will now play a doubleheader on Friday with a 1 p.m. PT and 3:30 p.m. PT first pitch. The series will conclude on Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT
Washington concluded its last regular season home game against then-No. 18 Nebraska with a 2-1 record. The Huskies took game two of the series 10-2 in five innings. Jadyn Glab led the offense with a .500 average (4-for-8) with a double and two home runs for five RBI. Charity Sevaaetasi also added four RBI while Alexis DeBoer (3) and Jade Bubke (2) tallied multiple RBIs on the weekend. Sophia Ramuno led the Husky pitching staff with eight strikeouts and Morgan Reimer followed closely behind with six.
NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Alexis DeBoer was named D1Softball National Player of the Week after the Black and Orange Classic to close out the non-conference tournament season. The freshman posted a .538 batting average with seven hits, a double, five home runs, eight RBI, six runs scored and drew five walks while posting a 1.769 slugging percentage. On the season, DeBoer is batting .372 with a team-leading six doubles and 11 walks. She is on a 10-game hitting streak and has 13 consecutive games with an RBI. It is the first national player of the week honor since Olivia Johnson was named NFCA Player of the Week in 2022.
BIG TEN PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
For the first time in program history, a pair of Dawgs have been named Big Ten players of the week. Freshman Alexis DeBoer won Player of the Week, while senior Stevie Hansen was named Pitcher of the Week. DeBoer lead the team with a .579 batting average with 11 hits, 11 RBI, four runs, two doubles and three home runs at the OUTRIGGER Invitational. Hansen anchored the UW pitching staff with a 0.00 ERA, 2-0 record and a save over 12.2 innings. She struck out 16 batters along the way with only four hits and one walk allowed.
NFCA FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR TOP 25
Alexis DeBoer was named one of 25 finalists of NFCA National Freshman of the Year on April 25. DeBoer is the first Husky to earn the honor since Gabbie Plain in 2018 and the fifth Husky overall named to be named to the list. She is one of five Big Ten freshman named to the 2025 list, joining UCLA's Addisen Fisher, Rutgers' Ella Harrison, Oregon's Rylee McCoy and Michigan's Lauren Putz.
A NEW ERA FOR WASHINGTON
The 2024-25 athletic year marks the inaugural season in the Big Ten Conference for Washington Athletics. On Aug. 2, 2024, the Huskies became official members of the Big Ten along with UCLA, USC and Oregon.
AUSL ON MONTLAKE
Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) announced on April 3 that they are making a stop in Seattle from July 11-13 at Husky Softball Stadium. A pair of Husky All-Americans will make their return to UW in Baylee Klingler (Blaze) and Sis Bates (Volts) in the three-game series. Since 2018, the Huskies have posted a 109-27 record at Husky Softball Stadium, including a 17-3 record in 2023 and 11-4 in 2024. Washington is 8-4 at home this season. Over the 12 games at Husky Softball Stadium this season, the Huskies averaged 1,460 attendees which ranks 16th in the nation and the third highest in the Big Ten behind Nebraska (2,228; 4th) and Oregon (1,865; 11th). Washington leads the Big Ten with a 97.31% capacity filled.
GETTING IT DONE IN THE CIRCLE
The Washington pitching staff of Sophia Ramuno, Stevie Hansen, Morgan Reimer and Madi Balk has combined for 12 shutouts on the season, 19th-most in the NCAA and second-most in the Big Ten. Their 3.78 strikeout-to-walk ratio is sixth best in the nation. The staff's 7.77 strikeouts per seven innings ranks eighth in Division I and 1.15 WHIP is 15th. Individually, Ramuno's 6.50 strikeout-to-walk ratio is second in the conference while coming in eighth nationally. Her 130 strikeouts is 51st-most in DI and 9.1 strikeouts per seven innings comes in 17th. Hansen is seventh in the B1G with her 1.06 WHIP which comes in 39th in the nation. UW is on track to have three pitchers with 10 or more wins. Reimer leads the team with 14, while Ramuno has nine and Hansen has seven. The last time the Huskies had three pitchers with 10 or more wins was in 2012 with Kaitlin Inglesby (19), Kasey Stanchek (10) and Bryana Walker (10).
DEBUT MOMENTS
During the first three weeks of the season, 16 Huskies made their debut in the Purple and Gold. Ten saw time in game one against Alabama - Alexis DeBoer, Charity Sevaaetasi, Alycia Flores, Riley Peschek, Gabi Toney, Addie Craig, Morgan Reimer, Ava Carroll, Tia Durst, Rylee Rehbein and Sophi Mazzola. Three more saw time in the second game of the day against Arizona - Jade Bubke, Stevie Hansen and Sophia Ramuno. Madi Balk made her Washington debut during week two against Utah Valley. Freshman Annika Ticen made her debut as a pinch runner against UC Riverside on Feb. 20.
OPENING WEEKEND SUCCESS

Stevie Hansen has moved into the Top 50 active leader in career victories, coming in 50TH with 43. Sophia Ramuno's 432 career strikeouts ranks 38th in NCAA Division I. Alexis DeBoer entered the rankings with her .819 slugging percentage among players with a minimum 100 career at bats which comes in seventh.

Washingtons has had five consecutive seasons with two or more Huskies with double-digit home runs (and nine of the last 10 complete seasons). 2019 was the lone complete season where two Huskies did not get over the mark. This season freshman Alexis DeBoer (18) and Jadyn Glab (14) are keeping the tradition while leading the team in homers.

Senior pitcher Stevie Hansen threw the 51st no-hitter in program history against UC Riverside at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic on Feb. 20. It was the second no-hitter of Hansen's career - her first came against Utah Valley in 2023 when she was at Oregon. The lone base runner in the game came in the first inning, reaching on an error.
SIMPLY PERFECT
Stevie Hansen threw the ninth perfect game is Washington softball history on March 9 versus Montana. She struck out six of the 15 batters faced in the 11-0 five inning victory over the Griz. Hansen is the fifth Husky pitcher to throw a perfect game joining Nancy Wagner, Jamie Graves, Danielle Lawrie and Gabbie Plain. It was the third no-hitter of Hansen's career and second this season for the senior.

This summer, freshman Morgan Reimer played for the Canadian Junior National Team at the U-18 Softball World Cup Group Stage, helping the team qualify for the 2025 World Cup. During the event, Reimer posted a 0.00 ERA with a 2-0 record over 14.2 innings. She struck out 29 batters and threw a perfect game against Australia. Additional this past summer, head coach Heather Tarr and former Husky Sis Bates led Team USA to a silver medal at the WBSC World Cup Finals. Taran Alvelo joined Team Puerto Rico for the World Cup. Baylee Klingler represented Team USA in the Japan All-Star Series. Representing Team Mexico this summer were Lindsay Lopez and Jillian Celis at the Canada Cup.

Assistant coach Brad Kilpatrick has been named to the roster for the 2025 WBSC Men's World Cup Finals held from July 8-13 in Prince Albert, Canada.

The Huskies opened the season with four of their first five games against a ranked team in then-No. 11 Alabama and then-No. 16 Arizona. The Week 12 NFCA poll sees six opponents in the Top 25 in No. 3 Oregon, No. 6 UCLA, No. 12 Arizona, No. 19 Alabama, No. 20 Nebraska and No. 24 Grand Canyon. The Huskies have played 13 games against ranked opponents.

UW will then head over to Hawaii for the OUTRIGGER Invitational (Feb. 26- March 1). The final tournament of the season will come at the Black and Orange Classic in Pocatello, Idaho (March 8-10). In total the Dawgs will travel almost 11,200 miles over the first five weeks. Washington will make their first appearance at Husky Softball Stadium for the Big Ten opener against Oregon on March 14-16. In total, the Huskies will travel almost 31,000 miles between the regular season and Big Ten Tournament. Washington is 9-7 this season in true road games.

The all-time winningest coach in Washington Athletics history, Heather Tarr eclipsed 800 career wins last season. Her career .722 winning percentage ranks 11th among active Division I softball head coaches with a minimum five years as a head coach. Her 852 wins are tied for 24th most among active coaches. Brooke Klosowicz leads the nation with 21 doubles and 30th with 121 total bases. Her .435 batting average ranks 40th in the NCAA. Three Nittany Lions have double digit home runs in Haylie Brunson (13), Klosowicz (12) and Maddie Gordon (11). In the circle, Mady Volpe leads the nation with 43 appearances while Abigail Britton is ninth nationally with five saves. Volpe and Britton have 78 and 75 strikeouts, respectively.

SCOUTING THE NITTANY LIONS
Penn State enters the weekend with an overall record of 23-24 and 9-10 in conference action. As a team the Nittany Lions rank in the Top 15 in the nation in doubles (86; 7th), home runs (70; 14th) and slugging percentage (.590; 11th). Brooke Klosowicz leads the nation with 21 doubles and 30th with 121 total bases. Her .435 batting average ranks 40th in the NCAA. Three Nittany Lions have double digit home runs in Haylie Brunson (13), Klosowicz (12) and Maddie Gordon (11). In the circle, Mady Volpe leads the nation with 43 appearances while Abigail Britton is ninth nationally with five saves. Volpe and Britton have 78 and 75 strikeouts, respectively.
ALL-TIME VS. PENN STATE
Washington is 7-1 all-time versus Penn State. This weekend's series will be the first time the programs have met in University Park.
