
No. 12 Washington Defeats USC At Home, 77-67

SEATTLE – The No. 12 University of Washington women's basketball team defeated USC 77-67 Friday (Jan. 6) night to remain undefeated at home this season and improve to 15-2 and 3-1 in Pac-12 play.
The Huskies, who are currently on a 12-game win streak inside Alaska Airlines Arena dating back to last year, put three in double figures, led by senior Kelsey Plum. Plum scored 34 points on 13-of-24 shooting including three from behind-the-arc while also leading the team with five assists. The nation's leading scorer scored 30 or more for the eighth time this season.
Senior Chantel Osahor accounted for her NCAA-leading 13th double-double of the season with 17 points and 15 boards while junior Heather Corral scored 10 points behind three triples. Senior Katie Collier finished with seven points and five boards while freshman Aarion McDonald led the Huskies off the bench, scoring seven points in 18 minutes of action.
As a team, Washington shot 41.0 percent (25-of-61) from the floor to USC's 42.4 percent (25-of-59). The Huskies held a 43-32 advantage on the glass.
Washington never trailed in the game as Plum opened the scoring with a three-pointer less than a minute in before converting an and-one to give Washington an early 6-0 lead. Plum went on to score 22 first half points to help the Huskies take a 14-point lead at the break.
Washington took its largest lead of the game at the 6:54 mark of the third quarter as Plum's layup put the home team up by 22. USC went on a 7-0 run in the fourth quarter to dwindle it down to single-digits, 70-61 with 2:59 remaining, but a layup by Plum and a McDonald three-pointer iced the game late as Washington improved to 10-0 at home this season.
