
Seniors Lead No. 12 Washington Past No. 9 UCLA, 82-70

SEATTLE -- Seniors Kelsey Plum, Chantel Osahor and Katie Collier accounted for 66 points and 35 rebounds to lead the No. 12 University of Washington women's basketball team past No. 9 UCLA, 82-70, on Sunday (Jan. 8) inside Alaska Airlines Arena. The Huskies improve to 16-2 and 4-1 in Pac-12 play while staying undefeated at home this season.
After a power outage delayed the start time by an hour, the Huskies shot lights out to open the game, hitting six three-pointers in the first quarter to jump out to a 22-15 lead. UCLA made the first bucket of the game but Washington answered with an Osahor three.
Plum led all scorers with 39 points, including five three-pointers while going 8-of-8 from the foul line. The nation's leading scorer also grabbed four rebounds in a full 40 minutes of action. Osahor registered her NCAA-leading 14th double-double of the season with 19 points and 16 rebounds. Collier grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds, including eight offensive, while dishing out a career-high five assists. The Covington, Wash. native also tallied eight points, including three jumpers in a three-minute span to open the second half.
For the 12th time this season, Washington registered double-digit three-pointers (12) by five different players. The Huskies' 203 made three-pointers this season leads the nation.
As a team, Washington shot 40.9 percent (27-of-66) from the floor while holding UCLA to 35.6 percent (26-of-73). The Huskies also held a pivotal 45-42 advantage on the glass.
After UCLA's Kari Korver opened the scoring in the second quarter, Washington went on an 8-0 run before Korver and Osahor traded three-pointers. With the Huskies leading 35-22 at the 3:53 mark, the Bruins outscored Washington 9-4 to trim its deficit to eight points at halftime, 39-31.
Collier knocked down back-to-back jumpers to open the scoring in the second half as the Huskies went on to outscore the Bruins 22-20 in the third. Washington took its largest lead of the game at the 1:43 mark after Plum knocked down her second three of the quarter to give the Huskies a 15-point advantage.
UCLA pulled to within six points with 7:34 remaining in the fourth but Plum hit back-to-back threes to put the Huskies back up by 10 and help Washington win its 11th game at home this season.
Next up, Washington hits the road, traveling to Arizona (Jan. 13) and Arizona State (Jan. 15).
