Romeo Hits 10 Three-Pointers To Lead No. 7 Washington Past Cal

SEATTLE -- Junior Natalie Romeo drained a career-high 10 three-pointers and the No. 7 University of Washington women's basketball team hit 18 from beyond the arc to beat California 90-67 on Friday (Jan. 27) in front of a crowd of 4,608 at Alaska Airlines Arena.
Romeo, who hit eight threes in the first half alone, matched a career-high with 32 points in the game.
Senior Kelsey Plum, the nation's leading scorer, scored 24 points, including four threes, and dished out a game-high five assists while pulling down seven boards.
Chantel Osahor accounted for her nation-leading 18th double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 boards for the Huskies (20-2, 8-1). The nation's leading rebounder also tallied four assists and four steals.
Freshman Aarion McDonald added eight points and grabbed five boards with a pair of assists and steals.
As a team, Washington shot 43.5 percent (30-of-69) from the floor to Cal's 41.7 percent (25-of-60). The Huskies, who also held a 44-34 advantage on the glass, shot 42.9 percent (18-of-42) from three-point range to the Golden Bear's 22.2 percent (2-of-9).
Kristine Anigwe had 23 points to lead California (15-6, 3-6).
The Huskies made 7-of-12 from beyond the arc in the first quarter to jump out to a 29-16 lead and continued its three-point barrage in the second, hitting 6-of-13 to take a 22-point lead at the half, 55-33.
Romeo made five threes for 17 first-quarter points, before adding three more in the second for 26 first-half points.
The Golden Bears pulled to 13-10 on a three-point play by Anigwe, but Washington responded with a 10-2 run, extending the lead to 23-12.
Heather Corral and Plum opened the second quarter with three-pointers to put the Huskies up 35-16.
Anigwe's jumper pulled Cal to 41-24, but Washington answered with a 10-3 run to make it 51-27 with 3:55 left in the half.
The Huskies hit four more triples in the third quarter to extend the lead to 80-48 entering the final quarter.
