
Huskies Rout Concordia In Exhibition Opener

SEATTLE – Washington opened the 2015-16 season with a strong performance, routing Concordia in an exhibition game, 94-46. The win was a collective effort as 11 Huskies saw playing time and 10 scored.
The Dawgs shot 45 percent from the field, led by Kelsey Plum who finished the night with 24 points, nine assists and five rebounds, while also adding five steals. Talia Walton and Khalia Lark joined Plum in double-digit scoring with 10 and 11, respectively.
Washington opened the game with a 9-0 run and never let up on their domination through all four quarters. They held Concordia to just nine points in the fourth quarter and limited them to 18-74 from the field.
The Cavaliers also shot just 5-29 from 3-point range, compared to 8-19 for the Huskies. Lark led the Dawgs with three from beyond the 3-point arc.
Alexus Atchley led the Dawgs in rebounding with 11 boards, while Deja Strother and Chantel Osahor each added nine. The Huskies dominated Concordia on the glass, 65-46, as a total of eight Washington players had at least five rebounds on the night.
Strother, the team's only newcomer this season, saw 14 minutes on the floor and nearly had a double-double in her Husky debut. She was dominant in the lane, blocking four shots, while adding nine rebounds ot go with her eight points. Strother was also 6-for-8 from the free-throw line.
The post play was strong for the Huskies as Katie Collier added nine points and seven rebounds in just 17 minutes of action.
Washington will host one more exhibition game before getting their season started for real in two weeks. The Huskies host Warner Pacific for an exhibition on Sunday, November 8 at 2:00 p.m. The non-conference opener is at Alaska Airlines arena on Saturday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m. when they host Santa Clara.
