Moll Twins Make Team USA For World Championships
August 03, 2025 | Track & Field
EUGENE, Ore. – There have been a lot of firsts this year for Hana and Amanda Moll, whether in first-place finishes, or first in collegiate history, or first ever to (insert pole vault achievement). Another first came today as the twins made Team USA for the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, the first time both will be on a senior level national team together.
Amanda was the USATF Outdoor Championships bronze medalist today, with Hana finishing in fourth-place, with both making the same top height of 15-6 1/4. Because the U.S. has the defending World Champion in Katie Moon, who finished second today, Team USA gets four spots to the World Championships instead of the standard three. Amanda and Hana will join Moon, who also made 15-6 1/4, plus Sandi Morris, who won gold today as the only woman to clear 15-10.
This will be the second senior World Championships appearance for Hana, as she also made the 2023 squad and then placed ninth in the final in Budapest. It will be the first World Championship appearance for Amanda. Hana was the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Champion and Amanda was the 2025 NCAA Indoor Champion, and both were semifinalists for the Bowerman Award.
After both sisters made the opening height of 14-4 1/4, each faced third-attempts at the second bar, 14-10 1/4. But as they did back at NCAA Outdoors in June, they each came up clutch with clearances to stay alive. Going up to 15-2 1/4, Hana cleared it on her first attempt, but Amanda was down to another third-attempt facing elimination. She got over for a second-straight time to keep her hopes alive.
Three more women went out at 15-4 1/4, which the twins passed at, so four women remained going to 15-6 1/4: Morris, Moon, and the Molls. Morris and Moon had first attempt makes, with the Molls needing to clear that height to leapfrog several other women who were out of the competition, but sitting above them in the standings due to previous makes and misses. Amanda came through on her second attempt, jumping up into third and securing her spot to Tokyo. Hana had two misses and was sitting in sixth-place with one chance left. She came through when it mattered most, clearing and rising to fourth to join the Worlds squad.
The twins still fought to improve their standing at the next bar, which was 15-10, but only Morris cleared that height.
Former Husky Nastassja Campbell also was in the vault competition, but she did not clear the high opening bar today.
The final Husky in action was 2023 grad Kayley DeLay in the 5,000-meters. DeLay took 11th in a great effort, running 15:27.67.
The Tokyo World Championships are still more than a month away. The qualifying rounds for the women's pole vault are set for Monday, Sept. 15, and the final will be on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
