SEATTLE – No. 9 Washington (33-10, 14-7 Pac-12) secured the series victory over No. 19 Utah with a 5-3 win on Sunday at Husky Softball Stadium.
Utah opened the game with a run, but the Huskies answered right back to tie the game after some heads-up base running from Baylee Klingler to score on a passed ball.
The Huskies tacked on a pair of runs in the second when Jadelyn Allchin leadoff the inning with her first triple of the season. Allchin was brought in on Brooke Nelson's single in the next at bat. Madison Huskey brought in Nelson on an RBI single with one out to make it a 3-1 Washington lead.
Utah responded with a run in the third to make it a one run game.
Allchin drove in the fourth run for the Huskies on an RBI single in the fifth after SilentRain Espinoza leadoff with a double, then pinch runner Brooklyn Carter stole third. It was Allchin's third hit of the contest.
The Utes once again cut the Huskies' lead down to one on a two out double.
Sami Reynolds tacked on an insurance run with her eighth home run of the season in the sixth to secure the 5-3 victory for the Huskies on senior day.
