
Huskies Split Opening Day Of Mary Nutter

CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. – The Huskies split day one of the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic on Thursday. Washington opened with a five inning run-rule of Bethune-Cookman, 16-0, and dropped an extra innings matchup against No. 18 Kentucky, 11-3.
Washington sits at 10-3 overall on the season.
BETHUNE-COOKMAN 0, #8 WASHINGTON 16 (5 inn.)
Kelley Lynch opened the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic with a five-inning no-hitter against Bethune Cookman with 13 strikeouts as the Huskies went on to win 16-0. Lynch also had a hot bat, going 3-for-3 with four RBI, a walk and two runs scored. She also struck out 13 of the 16 batters she faced.
The Huskies went on to record five extra bases hits in the game, highlighted by Rylee Holtorf with a double and a triple.

Washington jumped out to an early, 1-0 lead on Kinsey Fiedler's bases loaded walk in the first inning.
The Huskies added to the lead with Baylee Klingler's solo home run on the third.
Kentucky was able to bounce back and tie the game in the fourth and take the lead at 3-2 in the fifth.
With one out in the fifth, Kinsey Fiedler hit a home run out to right field that just missed the outfielder's glove to tie the game at three.
In extra innings, Kentucky drove in eight runs on six hits to come away with the 11-3 win.
