SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The Washington baseball team defeated Cal Poly, 4-3 to take the series.
Will Simpson put the Huskies on the board in the fourth with his first home run of the season over the left-field fence. Michael Snyder doubled to right-center in the sixth and then scored on Preston Viltz's RBI single to tie the game in the sixth inning. In the ninth, Johnny Tincher hit a double, his third of the weekend, to center field. AJ Guerrero hit a 2 RBI double to right-center scoring Tincher and Simpson, who was intentionally walked. This put the Huskies up 4-3 with the bottom half to play.
Adam Bloebaum started on the mound for Washington pitching 4.1 innings with five strikeouts. Calvin Kirchoff, Stu Flesland III and Jack Enger combine for 3.2 innings and 4 strikeouts, with Enger picking up the win. Colton McIntosh pitched the ninth for the second day in a row. McIntosh struck out the last two Mustang batters to end the game and got his second save of the season.
