HONOLULU, Hawaii -- The Washington women's tennis team lost three of six singles matches and all three doubles matches against No. 4 Duke University, 3-6, on Jan. 15 at BYU-Hawaii. Washington falls to 0-2. The Huskies play the University of Tennessee tomorrow at 10:00 a.m., at BYU-Hawaii.
In singles competition, playing in the No. 1 slot, 42nd-ranked junior Kristina Kraszewski downed 17th-ranked Megan Miller, 6-1, 6-4, while in the No. 2 slot, senior Zuzana Stunova was defeated by 31st-ranked Kathy Sell, 6-0, 6-0. In the third slot, 98th-ranked sophomore Ilona Kordonskaya lost to Erica Biro, 6-4, 6-0, while in the No. 4 slot freshman Darija Klaic stopped Hillary Adams, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3. Senior Zeta Wagner won in the fifth position to 97th-ranked Brooke Siebel, 6-1, 2-6, 7-5, while freshman Colleen Gray was defeated by Prim Siripipat, 6-1, 6-3, in the sixth slot.
In the top position of doubles competition, Kristina Kraszewski and Darija Klaic lost to 25th-ranked Erica Biro and Brooke Siebel, 8-5. Zuzana Stunova and senior Peggy Wu lost in the second position to Megan Miller and Hillary Adams, 8-3, while Kathy Sell and Katie Granson downed Ilona Kordonskaya and Colleen Gray, 8-1, in the third slot.
