Sprinkle Inks Nevada Transfer Tayshawn Comer

SEATTLE – Washington head men's basketball coach Danny Sprinkle has announced an addition to the Huskies' roster for the 2026-27 season with the signing of transfer guard Tayshawn Comer.
"We are excited to add Tayshawn Comer to the Husky family," Sprinkle said. "Tayshawn is a great kid that comes from a great family and he brings years of leadership from his high school career to his college career. His ability to get into the paint to create offense for himself and others will be a great asset this year, especially with the other guards that we have surrounding the shooters for this upcoming season."
Comer, a native of Indianapolis, brings a wealth of experience to Montlake, spending the 2025-26 season at Nevada. Comer began his collegiate career at Eastern Kentucky, playing for the Colonels for two seasons before transferring to Evansville.
"Tayshawn is a strong guard that loves defense and putting pressure on his opponent." Sprinkle continued. "We're really excited about his leadership and ability to influence practice and games with his effort and energy. He's a gym rat, a winner and we're excited for him to put on a Husky jersey."
A former Indiana Mr. Basketball finalist, Comer started all 36 games for Nevada a season ago, averaging 11.0 points and 3.6 assists per contest, while shooting 38.3 percent from the floor.
Comer made an instant impact in his lone season in Reno, scoring in double figures in 11 of his first 12 games for the Wolfpack. Two of the 6-1 guard's three 24-point season high scoring efforts came during the stretch against Washington State and Boise State.
After delivering a double double with 10 points and assists apiece against Wyoming in January, Comer again proved a nuisance for Boise State, knocking down 9-of-15 attempts, including 3-of-6 from behind in the arc, en route to 24 points and four assists.
The previous year, Comer led Evansville in scoring at 16.2 points per game on 38.6 percent shooting on the way to Second Team All-Missouri Valley laurels. The Cathedral High School product also averaged 4.1 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game, all career highs.
Comer reached 1,000 points during his lone season with the Aces, dropping 22 points with seven rebounds and seven assists to reach the milestone.
Prior to joining the Aces, Comer spent two seasons at Eastern Kentucky, earning ASUN All-Freshman honors after averaging 7.7 points and 3.4 assists as a rookie, bumping up to 8.8 points and 3.5 assists as a sophomore.
A three star prospect out of high school, Comer was named the Indianapolis City Player of the Year, also garnering all-state status and being tabbed a McDonald's All-America nominee. As a senior, Comer led the Irish to a 26-6 overall record and the Indiana Class 4A State Championship.
"You can tell how much [Tayshawn] loves the game," Sprinkle said. "He's already been in watching practice and asking questions, wanting to watch film on the offensive and defensive things we have in. He's communicating with the team already and building meaningful relationships with guys on and off the floor."
