Large Pack Of Huskies Headed To Shanghai For 2025 World Championships
September 15, 2025 | Men's Rowing
In what is likely the largest group in program history, a total of 23 Washington Rowing current student-athletes and alumni will compete at the 2025 World Rowing Championships, which will be held Sept. 21-28 in Shanghai, China.
Twelve men's team alumni, along with 11 former members of the women's team will travel with their national team to the annual regatta. Huskies will row in nine different race categories for 11 different nations. The largest contingent – seven in all – will represent the United States.
The Husky group will include 10 athletes with Olympic Games experience, including six medalists. There will also be seven UW alumni who have won IRA National Championships for the men's team, plus four women who have won NCAA Championship finals.
A number of Huskies will compete in more than one race category, including a handful who will row in the mixed eight, a new World Championships event, which features eight-oared crews consisting of four women and four men each, along with a coxswain (of either gender). In fact, the 22 Huskies will compete for 32 medals.
The schedule of races has yet to be settled, but fans can keep an eye on WorldRowing.com for more info as it comes. A reminder that Shanghai (GMT+8) is 15 hours ahead of Pacific Daylight Time (GMT-7).
