Huskies Complete Round One In Georgia
October 24, 2025 | Men's Golf
ALPHARETTA, Ga. β Washington men's golf is in a tied for sixth with a 3-under 285 after the opening day of the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate.
Β
Washington got off to a fast start with four Dawgs shooting under par for the first nine, going a combined 8-under. The back nine proved to be a challenge with UW shooting 16-over.
"Up and down day for us," head coach Alan Murray said. "We got off to a great start and had a really good front nine. Leaked a bit of oil on the back nine which is the tougher of the twoΒ sides. The wind picked up and we just made a few errors. I think we are getting better without doubt and I feel that we have a really good round in us so we just have to keep plugging away."
Β
Jacob Goode led the charge for the Dawgs with a 2-under 70, carding a bogey-free opening nine of 4-under 32, to sit inside the Top 15.
Jack Murphy and Finn Koelle both registered under par rounds of 1-under 71 to sit in a tie for 15th. It is Murphy's lowest round of the season thus far. The duo combined for nine birdies.
"We had three guys shoot under par rounds which is always pleasing," Murray added. "Jacob, Finn and Jack all had it going at one point and I think we have a good idea on how to play this course well."
Β
Rounding out the starting five was Grady Millar (+1, 73) and Brock Maulding (+11, 83). Millar is in 39th while Maulding is in 74th.
"Just need to remain patient and not take any unnecessary risks," Murray concluded.Β "Looking forward to tomorrow round."
Β
The Huskies will tee off on hole No. 1 alongside USC (5th, -6) and individuals for round two beginning at 6:55 a.m. PT/9:55 a.m. ET tomorrow.
