Washington Run Rules New Mexico State

LAS VEGAS – To conclude the Boyd Gaming Classic in Las Vegas, No. 7 Washington shut out New Mexico State 14-0 (5). The Dawgs finish the weekend at 4-1, and are 15-5 for the year.
Three singles (Olivia Johnson, Brooke Nelson and Sami Reynolds) in the first inning, each scoring two runs, put six runs on the board early for Washington. The hot bats continued in the second with Megan Vandegrift doubling for the second time this season, and weekend. Washington added four more runs in the second. Continuing her hot hitting, Olivia Johnson homered in the top of the fourth to left center (2 RBI). Kelley Lynch pitched her first complete-game shutout and struck out five Aggies.
Washington is back in action Tuesday for the home opener against Robert Morris at 6:00 pm PT.

1st: Olivia Johnson singled and scored Baylee Klingler and Jenn Cummings.
1st: Brooke Nelson also singled and collected 2 RBI.
1st: Sami Reynolds singled to right field to score Nelson and Angie Yellen.

Olivia Johnson hit her second home run of the weekend, after not homering since the third game of the season.
Senior Megan Vandegrift doubled for the second time this season. Her first double came Saturday against Houston. The double against Houston was the first extra-base hit of her career.
Washington matched its season-high-scoring output with 14 runs. Nine different players recorded hits in the win.
