
No. 11 Washington Routs Colorado, 79-46

SEATTLE – The No. 11 University of Washington women's basketball team defeated Colorado 79-46 Thursday night (Feb. 23) in front of 4,448 fans at Alaska Airlines Arena.
Washington put three in double-figures led by senior Chantel Osahor who scored 24 points, one shy of a career-high, and pulled down 20 rebounds. It was the seventh time this season the Phoenix, Ariz. native grabbed 20 or more boards. Osahor also tallied five assists, two blocked shots and two steals in the game.
It took just one half for the nation's leading rebounder to account for her NCAA-leading 25th double-double of the season. Osahor scored the first 10 points of the game and went on to score 19 in the first half to go along with 10 rebounds.
Senior Kelsey Plum led all scorers with 25 points and had a game-high six assists. The nation's leading scorer also grabbed five rebounds in the contest.
Junior Natalie Romeo rounded out Washington's double-digit scoring efforts, scoring 14, including four from beyond the arc. Romeo will enter Saturday's game 25 points shy of 1,000 for her career.
Washington's defense held Colorado to just 25.8 percent from the floor and held the Buffs to single digits in two quarters. As a team, the Huskies shot 42.2 percent (27-of-64) from the floor and held a 49-37 advantage on the glass.
After a back-and-forth first quarter, Washington went on a 9-0 run to open the second quarter and held the Buffs to just nine points in the period to take an 11-point advantage at the half, 38-27.
The Huskies outscored the Buffs 21-12 in the third before holding Colorado to just seven points in the fourth to earn their 26th win of the season.
