
No. 9 Washington Falls To No. 18 UCLA 90-79

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- The No. 9 University of Washington women's basketball team fell to No. 18 UCLA 90-79 on Friday (Feb. 17) inside Pauley Pavilion.
Senior Kelsey Plum, the nation's leading scorer, poured in 39 points to lead all scorers. The Poway, Calif. native went 11-of-21 from the floor, 3-of-6 from three and 14-of-15 from the foul line.
Fellow senior Chantel Osahor accounted for her NCAA-leading 23rd double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Senior Katie Collier, junior Natalie Romeo and freshman Aarion McDonald all contributed eight points a piece in the loss to round out Washington's scoring efforts.
Jordin Canada scored 22 points to lead UCLA to the upset victory. Monique Billings added 19 and Nicole Kornet 15 for the Bruins.
Washington led briefly in the latter end of the first quarter before UCLA went on a 12-0 run to mount a 29-20 lead at the 6:51 mark of the second.
Trailing 41-28, the Huskies went on a 8-2 run, including back-to-back three-pointers by McDonald to end the second quarter.
After a back-and-forth third, Plum hit a pair of free throws to tie it up with 2:18 remaining but the Bruins ended the quarter on a 9-2 run to take back a seven-point advantage.
UCLA opened the fourth on a 6-0 run and held off the Huskies to win their 26th consecutive home game, dating back to last season.
Note: Plum is closing in on second place on the NCAA's career scoring list needing just four more points to surpass Britney Griner in second. Jackie Stiles is No. 1 with 3,393 career points and Griner second with 3,283, while Plum is at 3,280.
