
No. 9 Washington To Face First Pac-12 Road Test At Oregon

SEATTLE -- The No. 9 University of Washington women's basketball team (13-1) heads to Oregon for its first Pac-12 road trip, facing Oregon on Friday (Dec. 30) and Oregon State on Sunday (Jan. 1). The Huskies opened Pac-12 play with a 94-63 win over Washington State after finishing non-conference play with a program-best 12 wins. Washington looks to extend a 10-game win streak.
For the first time in 18 years, Washington cracked the Top 10 in the regular season, checking in at No. 9 in the latest AP Top 25 poll. The Huskies are the highest ranked Pac-12 team, joining five others: UCLA at No. 10, Stanford at No. 14, Colorado at No. 15, Arizona State at No. 21 and Oregon State at No. 25. The last time Washington was ranked in the Top 10 during the regular season was in 1998, the same year all four of the Husky freshmen were born.
In the latest RPI, the Huskies are ranked No. 12. With its highest ranking since 2003-04, the Huskies were selected to finish third in the Pac-12, receiving two first-place votes and garnering 93 points.
Washington is leading the nation in several categories this season including 165 made three-pointers. The Huskies are 165-of-406 from three-point range, hitting at a .406 clip and 12 different players have hit at least one. Washington's 11.8 three-pointers per game ranks second while the team's 90.3 points per game and 31.3 scoring margin is fourth-best in the NCAA.
Kelsey Plum and Chantel Osahor are leading the nation in several categories, including scoring and rebounding, respectively. Plum is averaging 29.6 points per game while Osahor is averaging 13.9 rebounds. Osahor's 11 double-doubles is also the most in the NCAA while Plum's 137 made field goals and 414 total points leads the nation. Plum, who is 143 free throws shy of breaking the 32-year-old NCAA career free throw record, is second in the NCAA with 89 made. The pair were both named to the 2017 Naismith Watchlist while Plum was also named to the watch list for the Wade Trophy.
The Huskies have hit or gone over the century mark five times this season, which ties a program record.
Washington has four players averaging double figures: Plum (29.6), Osahor (14.5), Natalie Romeo (11.6) and Aarion McDonald (11.1). Osahor is averaging a double-double with 13.9 boards per game. Plum leads the team with 82 assists (5.9 per game).
