
Washington Routs BYU To Finish Non-Conference Play 12-1

All three seniors finished in double figures, scoring 63 of Washington's 82 points while pulling down 31 of the team's 43 rebounds. Kelsey Plum scored a game-high 29 points on 9-of-12 shooting. The nation's leading scorer was 5-of-7 from behind the arc and went 6-of-6 from the foul line while also distributing a game-high five assists.
Plum was also the team's third leading rebounder, pulling down five. At halftime, she was a perfect 6-of-6 from the floor and 4-of-4 from three. Plum did not miss a shot until 1:20 remaining in the third quarter.
Chantel Osahor and Katie Collier both finished with a double-double. Osahor scored 20 points, including three from behind-the-arc while grabbing 14 rebounds while Collier registered her first career double-double behind 14 points and 12 boards. Junior Natalie Romeo added nine points behind three three-pointers.
BYU maintained a narrow lead for most of the first quarter, but Plum's first triple of the game gave Washington its first lead, 15-14, with 1:09 remaining. After the Cougars scored a quick layup, Romeo knocked down Washington's second three of the quarter to give the Huskies an 18-16 advantage after 10 minutes.
In the second quarter, Washington outscored BYU, 25-7, to take a 20-point lead, 43-23, at the half. Plum scored 13 in the period, including three triples. The Huskies held the Cougars to just 3-of-19 second-quarter shots.
BYU opened the second half on a 13-0 run to pull to within seven at 43-36 in the third quarter but Washington responded with a 12-0 run, spearheaded by a Collier jumper at the 3:54 mark. The Huskies led 62-43 heading into the fourth.
Halfway through the final period, the Cougars connected on four straight field goals to cut the lead to 70-56, but Washington went on another run to close out the victory and improve to 12-1 on the year.
