
Women's Hoops Wraps Up Exhibition Play With 99-57 Win Over Concordia

SEATTLE -- Senior Kelsey Plum had 29 points, seven assists and five steals while senior Chantel Osahor registered a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards to lead the University of Washington women's basketball team to a 99-57 victory over Concordia in the team's final exhibition game of the 2016-17 season Wednesday at Alaska Airlines Arena.
The Huskies outscored the Cavaliers, 49-22, in the first half to cruise to a 42-point win before the home crowd in Seattle. Concordia's three-point shooting (10-of-34) kept the Cavs to within 21 points after the third quarter until Washington outscored the visitors, 32-11 in the fourth.
Plum was 3-for-7 from behind the arc, nailing all three over a span of three minutes in the first quarter. Osahor was strong around the basket, shooting 5-of-9 and hauling down five offensive rebounds.
Washington played 11 different players and nine got into the scoring column. Joining Plum and Osahor in double figures was freshman Mai-Loni Henson who finished with 14 points and five rebounds. Sophomore Hannah Johnson added nine points and seven rebounds while classmate Deja Strother also tallied nine points with five boards off the bench
The Huskies controlled the game with efficient shooting from the field (55.9 percent), holding Concordia to 29.0 percent. Washington also out-rebounded the Cavs, 50-35.
The Huskies led 49-22 at halftime after shooting 51.4 percent from the floor in the first two quarters and out-rebounding Concordia 27-20. Plum led all scorers with 20 points and five steals at the break.
The Huskies will open the regular season at home against Eastern Washington on Friday, Nov. 11. Tip-off in Alaska Airlines Arena is set for 7 p.m. PT. Click here for ticket information.
