SEATTLE (AP) - Tammy Annas scored 21 points to lead Santa Clara to a 71-56 victory over No. 25 Washington in the championship game of the Seattle Times Husky Classic on Saturday night.
Santa Clara (3-1) combined outside shooting and solid defense to beat the tournament hosts.
The Broncos shot 10-for-18 from 3-point range, and held the Huskies' leading scorer, Giuliana Mendiola, to only five points on 2-of-12 shooting.
Mendiola did not score until 8:22 remained in the game.
Annas, the tournament MVP, shot 7-for-10 and finished with nine rebounds. In the tournament, Annas had 26 points, 18 rebounds and four assists.
Washington (2-2) was led by Emily Autrey's 18 points. Andrea Lalum had 13 with nine rebounds.
Quinn Thomas added 13 points, and Kendra Rhea had a game-high 10 rebounds for Santa Clara.
The Broncos made five of their first six attempts from 3-point range and charged to a 22-17 lead.
Washington trailed 29-21 at the half. The Huskies shot 28 percent over the first 20 minutes and did not score over the final 6:55 of the half. The Huskies' last lead was 16-15 at the 11:15 mark of the first half.
The Huskies played without freshman guard Kayla Burt, who sustained a stress fracture in her left foot Friday in the Huskies win over Northeastern.
