Postgame Notes From Washington vs. Idaho

Head Coach June Daugherty:
GENERAL REMARKS: I was really concerned about this game after such a long
layoff for finals. We played some really good defense. It was really
exciting to see Julia Gray shoot like that. Shes really been working on
her shot.
ON MEGAN FRANZA: She was in that zone and smiling and you dont want to take her out but weve got a big game tomorrow against Oklahoma State and I wanted to keep her around 30 minutes. The biggest difference about Megan is that shes more consistent in every part of her game. Shes added the pull-up jumper. If she can continue to stay consistent, she can be the premier guard in our conference.
Megan Franza:
When I came in as a freshman I just looked to shoot the three. Last year
and again this year Ive worked on my drive. Its nights like this when
they all go in and your work pays off. Mike (Daugherty) has helped me a
lot with my shooting. Weve been working together on off days. I had no
idea how many (points) I had.
Julia Gray:
ON MEGAN FRANZA: Megan improves everyday. She is so competitive. When
shes on and shes hitting, she gets everyone going and gets everyone
involved. Shes a great teammate on and off the court.
Idaho Head Coach Hilary Recknor
GENERAL REMARKS: "We didn't even come close to what we wanted in this
game. Washington certainly attacked us off the dribble knowing we'd
defend a three pointer. We can't win a game when only half our team shows
up. We were got out of rhythm defensively, individually and as a team. "
ON BENCHING NIEMAN AFTER HER SECOND FOUL: "I expected the rest of the team to step up, and they normally do. I shouldn't have taken her out for so long."
ON MEGAN FRANZA: "We thought we had her well scouted. It was as if she got ahold of the scouting report. We anticipated her as a three point shooter and didn't adjust when she started driving on us."
Idaho Forward Alli Nieman
GENERAL REMARKS: "Throughout the whole game we were inconsistent. We let
them go on big runs. We didn't play 40 minutes tonight at all."
