Laffling Named All-Academic
Nov. 22, 1999 WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Washington senior Kristina Laffling has been named to the Pac-10 Women's Volleyball All-Academic first team, conference commissioner Tom Hansen announced today. Three other Husky players -- Britni Churnside, Allison Richardson and Lisa Underhill -- earned honorable mention. A swing hitter from Richmond, B.C., Canada, Laffling currently boasts a 3.38 grade point average as an English major. Last season, Laffling was named to the All-Pac-10 first team and to the Academic second-team. The 1999 All-Pac-10 team has not yet been named. Laffling completed her college career last weekend. She ranks in the top five in UW history in five different categories -- kills, attacks, digs, block assists and total blocks. Churnside, a sophomore setter from Eugene, Ore., is a pre-major with a 3.45 grade point average. Richardson, a sophomore swing hitter from Hemet, Calif., is also a pre-major with a 3.30 GPA while Underhill, a RS-sophomore quick hitter from Vista, Calif., is a pre-nurshing major with a 3.38 grade point average.
