Weather Forces UW To Head For Houston
Aug. 27, 2012
SEATTLE - With Tropical Storm Isaac expected to affect the gulf coast region later this week, the location for the Tiger Classic volleyball tournament, hosted by LSU and featuring the Huskies, has been moved to Houston, Texas. Rice University, one of the four teams participating, will now host the six-match tournament this Friday and Saturday, Aug. 31-Sept. 1.
Match-ups and match times will all remain the same, with UW, Purde, LSU, and Rice playing in Rice's Fox Gym.
"Rice is happy to work with the LSU administration and accommodate the Tiger Invitational," said Senior Associate Athletic Director and Volleyball Sport Administrator Stacy Mosely. "Our staff is committed to making this experience a positive one and we look forward to providing great volleyball for our fans."
"Moving to the Tiger Classic to Houston is a precautionary measure," LSU Senior Associate Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator Miriam Segar said. "We are grateful to Rice University and appreciative of their administration for the support and understanding during this situation."
Fox Gym is located in the Youngkin Center, adjacent to Tudor Fieldhouse. Rice last played in Fox Gym in 2008, with its last game in Fox Gym a 3-1 victory over TCU.
Washington is 3-0 and moved up two spots to 12th in the rankings this week after sweeping through the Northwest Challenge this past weekend at home.
