Huskies Prepare For Friday Scrimmage
Aug. 19, 2010
The 2010 season opener is just over a week away for the eighth-ranked Huskies, and on Friday the Dawgs will go through some of the motions of a typical gameday as they play a scrimmage at 6 p.m. Friday that is open to fans. The team will take to the Hec Edmundson court around 5 p.m. on Friday for warm-ups then divide into teams for some scrimmaging around 6:00, though standard practice elements could be mixed in throughout. A week from Friday is the UW's season opener, at home against Mercer, on Friday, August 27 followed by another home match the next night against Eastern Washington. After that the Dawgs will hit the road for the entire month of September before returning home for Pac-10 play in October. On Thursday, practice wrapped up with serving and passing drills, turned into a competition between the players serving and those returning. Players alternated between each side of the net, serving to liberos Kelly Holford or Jenna Orlandini on opposite sides with the aid of one outside hitter, with Becky Perry, Kindra Carlson, Kylin Munoz, and Bianca Rowland rotating through. Coach McLaughlin was pleased with the team's effort at the end of the session and stressed that they can reach their potential with the same effort level and concentrating on what they can see every play. So come show your support for the Dawgs Friday evening as they take another step towards the season-opener! |
