UW Volleyball Falls to ASU in Five
September 18, 1998 SEATTLE - Amanda Burbridge tallied 34 kills to lead Arizona State to a 3-2 win over Washington Friday night in the Pac-10 opener for both teams at Hec Edmundson Pavilion. Game scores in the two-hour, fourty-five minute match were 12-15, 15- 13, 9-15, 15-11, 15-8. Washington (1-4 overall, 0-1 Pac-10) got a career-high 29 kills from junior Kristina Laffling, who also tallied 17 kills. Senior Leslie Tuiasosopo posted 22 kills and 10 blocks. Arizona State (4-4, 1-0) saw its four match losing streak broken with the victory. Jami Coughlin added 21 kills and 21 digs for the Devils. The difference in the match came in game five when ASU made no errors. The Devils needed only four kills in the finale thanks to eight Washington errors. The Huskies take Saturday off to prepare for 21st ranked Arizona. The Dawgs and Wildcats will play at 1:00 p.m. Sunday.
