Women's Tennis Signs Top Notch International Recruit

SEATTLE, Wash. - Washington women's tennis head coach Jill Hultquist announced the signing of one student-athlete to a national letter of intent. Venise Wing-Yau Chan from Hong Kong, China will join the squad for the 2007-08 season.

Chan is currently ranked ranked No. 56 on the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior Rankings and 479th on the professional women's Sony Ericsson WTA Tour. She reached a high of No. 24 on the ITF Junior Rankings in May as well as ranking No. 2 on the Asian Tennis Federation Junior Girls ranking list.

Chan will come to the UW with at least two ITF Women's Circuit titles under her belt, winning the ITF Philippine Women's Circuit Week as a 16-year-old in 2005 and an ITF event in Bangkok this past July.
