Kraszewski Advances to Quarterfinals in ITA Women's Tennis Regional Championships
Nov. 11, 2000 PALO ALTO, Calif. - The Washington women's tennis team advanced one singles player and one doubles team in the main draw of the ITA Women's Tennis Regional Championships. The tournament, which was rained out on Friday, featured third and fourth round singles action and third round and quarterfinal double matches today. The event continues on Sunday with singles quarterfinals at 9 a.m. and semifinals at 12:30 p.m. at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium, while the doubles semifinals will follow at 3:30 p.m. The singles and doubles finals will be held on Monday at a time to be determined. Second-seeded senior Kristina Kraszewski will play in the quarterfinals tomorrow. Kraszewski downed Sacramento State's Gabriella Lunquist, 6-3, 6-2, before stopping the 15th-seed Racquel Kops-Jones of California, 6-4, 6-0. Kraszewski teamed with sophomore Darija Klaic to advance to the semifinals of the 64-team draw. The fourth-seeded duo won by default in the third round before going on to down California's Kristen Case and Lisa Swerniak, 8-2, in the quarterfinals. Kraszewski and Klaic will face top-seeded Laura Granville and Gabriela Lastra of Stanford tomorrow.
