KIRKLAND, WA -- After upsetting the top seed on Wednesday in the $75,000 USTA Women's Challenger, University of Washington senior Kristina Kraszewski was defeated by unseeded Alina Jidkova of Russia 7-6, 11-9, 6-4 on Thursday.

Coming into the tournament, Kraszewski was ranked 275th in the world. She competed earlier this summer in the women's pro tennis tour, where she reached the quarterfinals in both Salt Lake City and the Bronx and won the $25,000 ITF tournament in Winnipeg, Canada, which qualified her for the upcoming Japan Open.

Kraszewski is ranked No. 4 among NCAA players after finishing with a No. 6 ranking last season. She and the other members of the women's tennis team are scheduled to begin collegiate competition on October 14 at the Riviera All-American Championships in Pacific Pallisades, California.
