Husky Tennis Teams Learn Postseason Destinations on Thursday

SEATTLE - Washington's highly ranked tennis teams will discover their postseason destinations Thursday when the NCAA Men's and Women's Tennis championship brackets are announced on a live Internet selection show.
For the first time in NCAA championships history, the NCAA is making a number of selection shows available on the Internet through Yahoo! Broadcast. The 2001 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Tennis Championships selection shows will originate from the NCAA national office. The men's selection show will begin at 1 p.m. Pacific Time followed by the women's selection show at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 3. The anticipated length of each show is 20 minutes.
Access the Internet selection shows by going to www.ncaachampionships.com and clicking on "Men's Tennis" or "Women's Tennis" on the left side of the home page.
The selection shows will announce 64-team brackets for both men and women, including 16 schools that will host first- and second-round competition at their home sites.
The 14th-ranked Washington women's team posted an 18-7 regular-season record and was the Pacific-10 Conference runner-up with a 6-2 league mark. The Huskies are ranked No. 18 in the men's poll, finishing with an 18-7 record and a 3-4 conference ledger.
Both UW teams have placed bids to host NCAA matches at Quillian Stadium on the Washington campus. Each of the 16 selected sites will host three other schools with two first-round matches and one second-round match. The matches are scheduled to take place between May 11-13 with the 16 second-round winners advancing to the NCAA finals.
The women's NCAA team finals will take place May 17-20 in Stone Mountain, Georgia while the men's NCAA team finals are scheduled for May 19-22 in Athens, Georgia.
