Washington Duo Boisclair/Hoe Advance to Finals of Pac-10 Championships
April 28, 2001 OJAI, Calif. - Washington junior Erin Boisclair (Agoura Hills, Calif.) and Erin Hoe (Miliani, Hawaii) advanced to tomorrow's Pac-10 Championships doubles invitational final with a semifinal win on Saturday in Ojai, Calif. The Husky tandem took on Washington State's Lorena Arias and Moniek van de Ven to cruise to an 8-4 victory in the semifinals. Competing in the consolation singles bracket, junior Ilona Kordonskaya (Los Angeles, Calif.) took on Stanford's Sarah Pestieau. Kordonskaya lost the first set, but rallied back in the second and third set's to post a, 5-7, 6-4, 6-3, victory over the Cardinal senior. Sophomore Andrea Coulter ( Calgary, Canada) notched out a straight set victory over Kristen Case of California, 6-1, 6-0. Coulter then teamed up with sophomore Kathy Chi (Meridian, Idaho) to defeat Oregon's Vickie Gunnarsson and Valerie Young in the doubles consolation bracket. The Championship matches for both singles and doubles are set to begin at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday. The Huskies will then participate in the NCAA Regionals May 12-13, with sites and opponents to be determined next week.
