Women's Tennis Downs UC-Irvine, 6-1

SEATTLE - The 17th-ranked Washington women's tennis team captured another win as the Dawgs downed 58th-ranked UC-Irvine, 6-1, Saturday, Feb. 24 at the Lloyd Nordstrom Tennis Center. The Huskies improve to 6-4 on the season, while the Anteaters fall to 2-6. Washington will rap the weekend as they face the Utah Utes, Sunday, Feb. 25 at 2 p.m.
The Husky netters lost only one match as they improved their all-time series record to 3-2 against the Anteaters. In the top position of singles competition, 24th-ranked senior Kristina Kraszewski took Jonni Seymour to three sets before defeating the junior, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2, while junior Ilona Kordonskaya defeated Natalie Exon, 6-3, 7-6(4), in the No. 2 spot. Freshman Erin Hoe, who is ranked 66th in the nation, lost to Nickole Kabe in the No. 3 position, 6-4, 7-6(3), while sophomore Andrea Coulter won in the fourth spot as she downed Amy Tranckino, 6-3, 6-1. In the No. 5 position, junior Erin Boisclair defeated Mindy Gondrez, 6-0, 6-1, while Colleen Gray rounded out the singles portion of the match as the sophomore downed Antonella Castro, 6-4, 6-0.
In the top position of doubles competition, the 26th-ranked duo of freshman Darija Klaic and Kristina Kraszewski won, 8-2, over Jonni Seymour and Darian Chappel. In the No. 2 spot, Erin Boisclair teamed up with Ilona Kordonskaya to stop Natalie Exon and Amy Tranckino, 8-3, while Andrea Coulter and Erin Hoe defeated Nickole Kabe and Antonella Castro, 8-2, in the third position.
