UW's Coulter and Gray Advance to Semifinals at Pac-10 Indoor Championships
Jan. 19, 2002 Seattle - Washington's Andrea Coulter defeated Perrine Pernin of Arizona 6-1, ret, during the quarterfinal round to advance to the semi-finals at the Pac-10 Indoor Championships this evening. Also advancing to the semi-finals is No. 3 seed Colleen Gray, who defeated Tiffany Brymer of USC 6-0, 7-6 (6). Coulter will face Bernadette Bayani of USC in tomorrow's semifinal round while junior Gray will match up against No. 1 seed Lauren Fisher of UCLA. Two more Huskies were also successful in consolation action. Darija Klaic drowned Cindy Sureephong of ASU 6-0, 3-6, 7-6 (4), while sophomore Erin Hoe defeated Monika Gieczys of (Oregon) 6-7 (10), 6-0, 6-3. In Flight II quarterfinals senior Ilona Kordonskaya was defeated by Luana Magnani of USC 4-6, 6-2, 6-0.
