SEATTLE - The 26th-ranked Washington women's tennis team competes against several of the top teams in the nation this weekend when it hosts the ninth annual Pac-10 Indoor Tennis Tournament.
The conference championships will be held at the Lloyd Nordstrom Tennis Center on the Washington campus. The three-day event begins this Friday, Jan. 12 and concludes on Sunday, Jan. 14. Competition begins each day at 9 a.m.
Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children and seniors. UW students are admitted free with their I.D. Teams may be admitted for $1 per member with the accompaniment of one paying adult.
All nine Pac-10 teams that sponsor women's tennis (Oregon State does not) are represented in the event, which features four singles flights and three doubles flights. The top three singles flights only will include a consolation bracket.
Headlining the field is top-ranked Stanford, the 2000 NCAA runner-up. Three other top-10 teams will compete, No. 5 California, No. 7 Arizona State and No. 9 UCLA.
Prominent individuals expected to compete include defending NCAA singles champion Laura Granville of Stanford.
Washington features senior Kristina Kraszewski, the nation's sixth-ranked singles competitor. Kraszewski won the Flight I singles championship at last year's Pac-10 Indoor Tournament.
