Ysidora Earns National Ranking For 47th-Ranked Dawgs
Jan. 3, 2013
SEATTLE -- The Washington women's team will begin the season ranked No. 47 in the country with the release of the ITA Rankings on Thursday. In addition to the team rankings, freshman Grace Ysidora earned a spot in the singles rankings. Ysidora is coming off a strong fall season, despite being just a freshman to earn the No. 107 national ranking. She had some big wins during the fall, including defeating ranked opponents at the USTA Collegiate Invitational. The Husky women improved its national ranking from No. 49, which it finished in 2012. The Dawgs are looking to return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2011, when they advanced to the second round. Washington graduated its top player from 2012, Denise Dy, but otherwise returns most of its talent. The Dawgs open at home with Seattle U. at the Nordstrom Tennis Center on January 15, at 5 p.m. Following the opener, Washington travels to Hawai'i to face No. 54 Hawai'i and Cal Poly. Washington then begins qualifying for the ITA National Team Indoors with hopes of reaching the Championships in Charlottesville, Va. on February 8-11. |
