Douglas-Miron, Lukac Advance at SDSU Fall Classic

SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Washington continued play on Saturday at the SDSU Fall Classic with two Dawgs advancing in the singles draws. Elianne Douglas-Miron and Julija Lukac are still alive for Sunday's finals. Doulas-Miron quickly disposed of Hristina Dishkova of SMU, 6-4, 6-3. She will face Lacey Smyth of Arizona in her Sunday final. Lukac defeated Kristin Buth of San Diego State, 6-4, 6-2. She will face Tamitha Nguyen, also of SDSU, in her final. Three other Huskies were not as fortunate, falling in the winner's brackets of their draws. Grace Ysidora fell 7-6 (5), 6-1, but Capucine Gregoire and Brianna Kemp each got to a third set before going down. Gregoire lost 4-6, 6-2, 7-5, while Kemp fell 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. In doubles, both UW teams alive in the winner's draw fell in the semifinals. Douglas-Miron/Shimizu and Lukac/Nemcevic were defeated, 8-5 and 8-6, respectively. Sunday will mark the final day of the SDSU Fall Classic, highlighted by the finals for both Douglas-Miron and Lukac.
