Kraszewski Shines at ITA Regionals

STANFORD, Calif. - Sophomore All-American Kristina Kraszewski of the Washington women's tennis team advanced to the quarterfinals of the Northwest Region ITA Championships on Friday, as did three Husky doubles teams. The tournament concludes on Sunday.

Kraszewski, seeded third, downed Emeka Mayes of Cal, 6-3, 6-4, in the third round and then handled 14th-seed Lauren Kalvaria, 6-2, 6-2. Kraszewski will face Amy Jensen of Cal, seeded ninth, on Saturday.

Kraszewski and freshman Ilona Kordonskaya are seeded third in doubles and easily defeated Smyth and Miller of St. Mary's 8-1, to roll to the quarterfinals, facing Borgersen/Lee of Cal, the fifth seed. Also advancing were two junior tandems. Peggy Wu and Zuzana Stunova stopped Gajdzik/Filipovic of Washington State, 8-4, and Jenny Svanfeldt and Zeta Wagner trounced Djilianova/Pallo of Fresno State, 8-1.
