Freshman Kemp To Play For Title At St. Mary's Lukac and Douglas-Miron also advance in singles play in the consolation draws.

Sophomore Julija Lukac picked up her first two wins of the fall today at St. Mary's.

MORAGA, Calif. - Husky freshman Brianna Kemp will be competing for the blue flight singles title tomorrow at the St. Mary's Fall Invitational, after winning twice more today to highlight another busy schedule for the UW women's tennis team in its opening weekend. Several more Huskies picked up their first wins of the fall season in the tourney which features many of the top teams in the west.

Kemp, a newcomer from Rancho Palos Verdes, defeated Claire Jaramishian of UC Davis, 6-1, 6-3, in the quarterfinals and then outlasted Alexandra Tallas of Gonzaga, 7-5, in the third set in the semis. She'll look to win the flight on Sunday morning.

Also in action on Sunday will be freshman Elianne Douglas-Miron in the red singles consolation draw, as she won a super-tiebreak math with USF's Sofia Holmberg for her first college win, then moved on with a walkover in the next round. Sophomore Julija Lukac will be in the white bracket consolation semis after she earned a pair of wins today, the first a 6-4, 4-6 (11-9) win over Lauren Curry of UC Davis, and then a quick 6-3, 6-0 win over Stephanie Skaras of Santa Clara.

Sophomore Natali Coronel made the quarters of the white singles flight with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Cal's Laura Posylkin, but came up short in her next match, dropping a 6-3, 6-4 decision to Katharina Knoebl of Sacramento State. Coronel and Lukac also were stopped in the semis of the white doubles draw, 8-4, to a USF pair.

Also getting her first collegiate wins today was freshman Grace Ysidora of Jakarta, Indonesia, as she beat Marina Nikolic of USF, 6-4, 6-0 and then had another straight set win over another USF player, Milica Hadzi-Tanovic, in the next round.
