Women's Tennis Exits Pac-10 Tourney Early

OJAI, Calif. - The Husky netters were eliminated today at the Pac-10 Individual Championships held in Ojai, Calif. The lone Husky competitor in women's singles, 16th-ranked Kristina Kraszewski, fell 6-2, 6-1 to Cal's 45th-ranked Amy Jensen in the quarterfinals. This loss drops Kraszewski's overall record to 23-12.
In doubles action, the 23rd-ranked team of Kraszewski and Ilona Kordonskaya beat Washington States Patrycja Gajdzik and Andrea Reisz 8-4 in the first-round. However, the Husky duo fell 8-1 to the No.2 team in the nation, Stanfords Teryn Ashley and Marissa Irvin, in the second-round. The Husky tandem of Zuzana Stunova and Jennifer Svanfeldt fell 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 to Cals 30th-ranked team of Claire Curran and Anita Kurimay in the first-round.
In Pac-10 Invitational doubles play, Washingtons Zeta Wagner and Peggy Wu had a bye in the first-round and then fell 8-5 to Washington States Helen Frankland and Moniek Van de Ven in the second-round. The Husky duo of Lara Botts and Hrafnihildur Hannesdottir lost 6-0 to the Cougar duo of Tamara Filipovic and Melissa Pine.
