No. 39 Dawgs Fall To No. 26 Ole Miss

OXFORD, Miss. -- The Dawgs fell to a second-straight SEC opponent as Ole Miss topped Washington, 6-1. The 26th-ranked Rebels won the doubles point and then went on to win five of six singles matches. Mississippi won the doubles point after Vief Vlaar and Mai El Kamash began by defeating Julija Lukac and Andjela Nemcevic at No. 3 doubles. The Rebels clinched when Caroline Rohde-Moe and Marija Milutinovic defeated Elianne Douglas-Miron and Riko Shimizu at No. 1, 8-5. In singles, the Rebels took a 3-0 lead after winning at No. 4 and No. 3. Washington fought back to earn a point, when Natali Coronel defeated Marija Milutinovic, 6-4, 6-2. The win would end up being the only one for Washington. Mississippi would go on to close out the final three matches and win 6-1. Up next for Washington is a long overdue set of homematches as the Dawgs finally return home to face Portland and Iowa State. The Dawgs host Portland on Friday, March 1, at 1:30 p.m., followed by welcoming Iowa State on Sunday, March 3, at 11 a.m. Washington Women's Tennis Doubles Singles |
