UW Women's Tennis Defeats Washington State

 

February 14, 1999

SEATTLE, Wash. - The Washington women's tennis team recorded an 8-1 win over No.52 Washington State (1-3) today in the Lloyd Nordstrom Tennis Center. The Huskies, ranked 42nd by the latest ITA poll, are now 5-2 on the season.

In singles action, sophomore Kristina Kraszewski led the Huskies to a 5-1 victory. Kraszewski, ranked 22nd in the nation, recorded a 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 win over Cougar Erica Perkins in No.1 singles play. This win improves Kraszewskis overall record to 14-5.

The Huskies lone loss was at the No.3 singles position. Husky freshman Ilona Kordonskaya was defeated 6-3, 6-4 by Washington States Andrea Reisz.

Washington State forfeited all doubles matches.

Next week Washington is on the road again. The Huskies travel to southern California to face Loyola Marymount on Friday, Feb. 19, at 2 p.m. The next day Washington travels farther south to match-up against San Diego State on Saturday, Feb.20, at noon and then San Diego on Sunday, Feb.21, at noon.
