No. 47 Washington Tops No. 54 Hawai'i

HONOLULU, Hawai'i - Washington improved to 2-0 on the season with a dominating win over Hawai'I, 7-0. The Dawgs won the doubles point and then all six singles matches in straight sets for a big victory over the Rainbows. Washington won the doubles point, sweeping all three matches over Hawai'i. Elianne Douglas-Miron and Riko Shimizu won at No. 1 doubles over Katrina Pojakova and Xenia Suworowa, 8-5. In addition, Natali Coronel and Grace Ysidora took care of business at No. 2 doubles and Julija Lukac and Andjela Nemcevic won at No. 3. In singles, Ysidora swept through Poljakova at No. 1 singles without losing a game, 6-0, 6-0. Nemcevic also made quick work of her opponent, winning at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-2. The Dawgs continued the common theme, winning in straight sets in every singles match. Douglas-Miron won 7-6, 6-3, while Lukac won 6-4, 6-1, Rounding out the Husky squad were Gregoire who won 6-0, 7-5, and Shimizu who won 6-4, 6-1. Despite a ranking only slightly higher than its opponent, the Dawgs thoroughly dominated Hawai'i. On Sunday, Washington will face Cal Poly back at the UH Tennis Complex.
