Sophomore Bryana Walker pitched a great game for the Huskies and the UW had several opportunities early to take a lead on No. 1 Cal, but in the end, the Golden Bears took game two and the series, 2-0, to advance to the WCWS next week in Oklahoma City.
A three-run first inning lifted No. 1 Cal over the 16 seed Washington in game one of the Berkeley Super Regional Saturday night, 5-0.
Cal went 21-3 to win the conference and 50-4 overall in the regular season, earning the No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament. And the Golden Bears routed every league opponent by at least five runs - except one.
With 12 athletes already named to the National Team roster, Washington sophomore pitcher Kaitlin Inglesby will go up against 21 additional invitees to vie for the five remaining spots.
