Softball Kicks Off Season With Fall Classic

SEATTLE - The Washington softball team, which advanced to its fifth straight College World Series last season, will host the Alaska Airlines Husky Fall Classic, September 29-October 1 at Husky Softball Stadium. Cal State Northridge, University of the Pacific, Oregon State and Western Washington will join the Huskies in the three-day affair. It will be Washington's first of two fall competitions in preparation for the 2001 season.

Head coach Teresa Wilson, in her ninth season at UW, returns five starters from last year's squad, which finished with the program's best record ever at 62-9. The Huskies' 2001 roster includes 10 newcomers led by 2000 national player of the year pitcher Tia Bollinger.

The following is a schedule of the tournament. Admission is free.
