2011 Fall Softball Schedule Announced

SEATTLE -Head softball coach Heather Tarr and the Huskies have announced their 2011 fall schedule.

To begin the fall season, the team will return to Selah, Wash., for the annual Purple and Gold Scrimmage at Carlon Park at 1 p.m. on Sept. 17. The Huskies will also hold a clinic in Selah once again. On Sept. 21 the team will travel to Boise, Idaho to face Boise State at the Mountain Cove Softball Field.

The team will then return to Seattle for the remainder of the fall schedule. The first of two tentative games will be Oct. 1 vs. the USSSA Pride (National Pro Fastpitch), whose roster now includes former Huskies Danielle Lawrie, Jenn Salling and Ashley Charters.

The Huskies will host the annual Husky Fall Classic October 7-9 which will include 13 games over the three days. Washington will host five other teams in the tournament - Bellevue College, Seattle University, North Idaho College (NIC), Wenatchee Valley Community College (WVCC) and Western Washington University (WWU).

Washington will kick off its tournament play on Friday night at 7 p.m. vs. Seattle U. They will then play Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. vs. Bellevue College and WWU respectively. Sunday at 2 p.m. the Huskies will face NIC and at 4 p.m. they will take on WVCC.

As part of Alumni Weekend, the annual Alumni Game will take place Sunday Oct. 16 at noon. The weekend will include several get-togethers and celebrations for previous players including an Alumni & Family Members Only Happy Hour on Friday the 14 and a Pre-Game Tailgate before the UW vs. Colorado football game on Saturday the 15.

The Huskies will round out their fall schedule with a second tentative game on October 22 vs. NPF All-Stars (National Pro Fastpitch). Both games against the NPF teams are still to be determined on location and times.
