Two Future Huskies Earn All-State Honors

SEATTLE –Softball players Missy Taukeiaho and Jennie McNeill, who will play for UW in 2013, were recently named to the California All-State roster. Taukeiaho and McNeill both signed their NLIs to UW in November of 2011. Taukeiaho was named First-Team All-State Infield. Taukeiaho, the Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., native plays third base for the Worth Firecrackers 18U Gold. She was a First-Team All-Baseline League in 2009 and then named 2010 and 2011 MVP of the league. Taukeiaho was named First-Team ESPNRISE All-American in 2011, Junior Player of the Year in California and All-Inland Valley MVP. She led the Etiwanda Eagles her senior season with a .543 average, 16 home runs and 39 runs batted in. McNeill is from Simi Valley, Cali. She earned Second-Team All-State Infield honors, hailing from Notre Dame HS in Sherman Oaks. She plays shortstop and second base for the So Cal Pumas 18 Gold. In 2009 she was the Notre Dame Female Athlete of the year, and in 2011 McNeill was MVP of her HS softball team, the Mission League MVP, First-Team All-League and a Los Angeles Daily News All-Valley selection. She hit .539 and .492, 80 total hits and 22 RBI in her last two years of high school.
